
Biography
Gina Oberoi-Engela - Mezzo-Soprano
Gina Oberoi-Engela is an Irish mezzo-soprano recognized for her dramatic intelligence, vocal warmth, and emotionally grounded performances across opera, oratorio, and contemporary concert repertoire including a recent performance of Irish composer Eímear Noone’s Malach The Angel Messenger (World of Warcraft). She is particularly sought after for repertoire that bridges narrative depth with stylistic clarity, from Bach and Handel to 20th- and 21st-century works.
She has also appeared as a regular soloist with Limerick Opera Festival and Cork Opera, including company membership in 2019, and has performed with leading Irish ensembles such as the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. Her performances have been broadcast on RTÉ Lyric FM. Internationally, she has appeared in Ireland, Germany, Italy, Romania, Japan, and the Czech Republic.
Her operatic repertoire includes Second Bridesmaid (Le nozze di Figaro), Dritte Dame (Die Zauberflöte), Dido (Dido and Aeneas), and roles in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance.
A highly experienced oratorio soloist, Oberoi-Engela has performed major works including Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Duruflé’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man and A Mass for Peace, as well as the Irish premiere of Dan Forrest’s Jubilee Overture.
She is also an active recitalist and contemporary music advocate, performing repertoire ranging from Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen to new works written specifically for her, including ongoing collaborations with composer Martin O’Leary. Notable appearances include the Irish Embassy centenary concert in Bucharest and major national choral anniversaries.
Gina Oberoi-Engela holds first-class honours and masters degrees in Music from TU Dublin and completed advanced professional coachings in London Germany and Italy. Gina is listed on the Eva Artistic Management artist registry in recognition of her artistic excellence and professionalism.
